Ray-Ban Meta now supports Live Translation - Meta prepares Live AI feature
Meta has announced the launch of a live translation feature for all users of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. This feature was previously available only in beta testing.
Here's What We Know
The feature supports translation into English, French, Italian, and Spanish. It works in real time during a conversation and does not require Wi-Fi or mobile connection if the language pack is downloaded in advance. To activate it, just say: "Hey Meta, start live translation".
Here's How It Works
During the conversation, the user hears the translation of what is said in the selected language through the speakers in the glasses, and the text translation is displayed on the smartphone. This is convenient for travelling, studying or working with foreigners.
The company is planning to add another feature soon - Live AI. It will allow the glasses to "see" what the user sees through the built-in camera and provide contextual tips. For example, while cooking, walking, or gardening, the glasses will be able to answer questions without an activation word and taking into account previous requests.
Apple is also rumoured to be considering the idea of creating its own smart glasses with AI, microphones, and cameras - similar to Meta.
Meta has recently launched adverts on Threads in more than 30 countries. According to Mosseri, the goal of introducing ads is to "improve the overall user experience." The ad units will appear in the feed between posts, first in selected regions and later in most countries where the Threads platform is available.
