We wrote that the classic PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes are returning to PlayStation 5 with a new update that weighs 1.3 GB. But in addition to this, there is also an important feature related to sound.

Here's What We Know

The update adds a "Focus on Sound" feature to the console, which allows you to adjust audio with special presets to better perceive quiet game sounds and voice chat.

"Focus on Sound enhances accessibility and allows players to hear quiet in-game sounds and voice chat more clearly. When Focus on Sound is enabled, certain frequencies of quieter sounds are amplified, making car engine sounds, footsteps, in-game character voices, and voice chat clearer.

Several presets are available to enhance specific frequency ranges. However, this feature is only available when using headphones.

To use Sound Focus, go to Settings > Sound > Volume > Sound Focus and turn on Use Sound Focus.

There are four presets in total:

  • Bass Boost: Enhance low-frequency sounds, such as engine roars and rumbling.
  • Voice Amplification: Amplifies voice chats, character voices, and other midrange sounds.
  • Treble boost: Amplifies high-frequency sounds such as footsteps and metallic sounds.
  • Enhance soft sounds: Amplify soft sounds over a wide frequency range.

The update should be available to everyone on 24 April.
