After a four-month delay, Kia has officially opened access for its electric car line-up to more than 21,500 Tesla Supercharger network chargers.

Here's What We Know

The 2025 model year EV6 and 2026 EV9 electric cars will be equipped with the NACS (North American Charging Standard) connector already from the factory. Owners of older models, including the Niro EV, will be able to connect via a CCS/NACS adapter.

Finding and navigating to Tesla charging stations is now available through the car's multimedia system and Kia's mobile app. It also shows the availability of charging ports, their status and the cost of charging. Registration via the app is required to use the service.

Prior to the partnership with Tesla, Kia owners had access to about 22,000 fast charging stations nationwide. With Supercharger included, the total number of ports now exceeds 40,000. This markedly improves conditions for long-distance travelling in the brand's electric vehicles.

Now, the Tesla Supercharger network in America already supports 11 car manufacturers, including Ford, General Motors, Hyundai, Kia and Mercedes-Benz. They will soon be joined by BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Honda, Acura, Toyota, Subaru, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche.
