"Relax, this is the iPhone 16": Apple shows off iPhone's ultra-rugged screen in new advert
Apple has released a new commercial highlighting the key advantage of the iPhone 16 over Android smartphones: the use of Ceramic Shield material.
Here's What We Know
In the new video, titled "Trust Issues," a father hands his iPhone to a stranger, asking him to take a photo of his family at a fair. Unexpectedly, the phone falls out of the stranger's hands, and there is a moment of tension as everyone waits to see if the screen is damaged. However, the display remains intact thanks to the Ceramic Shield. The video ends with the phrase: "Relax, this is the iPhone 16."
Apple notes that the screens of the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max are protected by an updated version of Ceramic Shield. According to the company, it is twice as strong as the glass used in other smartphones.
Ceramic Shield was first introduced in the iPhone 12 and has been improved every year. The material, which combines glass and ceramic, provides high strength and scratch resistance, which is an important advantage for users looking for a smartphone with reliable protection against damage.
Although Apple points out the tremendous strength of Ceramic Shield, it is worth remembering that the durability of the material may depend on different conditions of use.
The new iPhone 16e is selling better than its SE predecessor and even the 15 Plus. In the first quarter of 2025, CIRP (Consumer Intelligence Research Partners) analysts recorded an increase in the popularity of the iPhone 16e, Apple's new budget smartphone. It gained 7% of all iPhone sales in the US, while the iPhone SE 2022 had only 5% in the same period a year earlier.
