Xiaomi forces employees to work 12-15 hours and punishes them for days off - media
Xiaomi is at the centre of a scandal after reports emerged of excessive workloads for employees. The Chinese platform Maimai, which resembles LinkedIn, published a post claiming that the company requires at least 11.5 hours of work per day.
Here's What We Know
Employees who work less than eight hours must explain this in writing. Those who are consistently at the bottom of the ranking in terms of hours worked are interviewed by management or pressured to leave.
Several employees confirmed this information to the Chinese media outlet Jiupai News. One of the employees of the mobile unit said that his team worked 12.5 hours a day, while others worked up to 14-15 hours.

What is particularly disturbing is that these demands are not formalised - they are passed on verbally to avoid traces. Workers from Shanghai and Jiangsu confirm that their departments have a schedule of 11.5-12 hours, and attempts to take a day off reduce the average and cause new pressure from management.
Contract workers face even harsher conditions - 11 hours a day without exceptions. Violations result in warnings or dismissal.
Xiaomi has not yet commented on the situation.
As a reminder, Xiaomi has un veiled a powerful, stylish and affordable smartphone, the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, with an OLED screen, Snapdragon 8s Gen4 and a high-capacity battery. The gadget will be a mid-range novelty, but with characteristics comparable to flagship models.
