Steam is taking an important step towards inclusivity with the introduction of special accessibility tags. Developers will now be able to describe in more detail how their games support players with different needs, making it easier to find games that offer the settings they need.

Here's What We Know

Steamworks has introduced a new questionnaire that allows developers to specify various accessibility options for their games. Among them are settings for difficulty, text size, alternative colours, high contrast, speech-to-text and text-to-speech, as well as individual volume controls and spoken menus.

Valve said that the new form is available in the "edit store pages" section for each game in Steamworks. Later this year, Steam will provide users with the ability to search for games by specific accessibility features. The accessibility options will also be added to the sidebar on the right of the store page.

"We've been working to gather valuable feedback from developers as well as gamers with disabilities to create what we hope is a more positive Steam experience for everyone by making it easier to find games that support accessibility features," Valve said.
