We recently reported that during a meeting with Tesla employees, Elon Musk said that in 2025 Musk's big plans: he expects to produce 5,000 Optimus robots in 2025, with production reaching 50,000 units in 2026, and initially planned 12,000 units, but realised that such a volume is still unattainable.

Apparently, and 5000 humanoid androids will remain a billionaire's fantasy.

Here's What We Know

As Bloomberg reports, Tesla is absolutely not ready for mass production of Optimus.

Apart from the fact that experts basically had questions about the performance of the Optimus robot during a September presentation, the company doesn't seem to have progressed beyond conceptual designs.

Due to the trade standoff with China, the US company is unable to procure rare-earth magnets needed for the robot's electric motors, as well as find suppliers for other key components.

It's possible that Musk is misleading people by telling them how work on Optimus is boiling, and will now use the current geopolitical situation to cover up the failure of the Tesla Optimus project.
