Poland develops its own maritime drone
The Polish company WB Group has presented a new naval drone that is similar in size to its Ukrainian counterparts and will become part of the country's broader strategy to create drone troops. This was announced by Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh.
Here's What We Know
"This is part of our big strategy: creating an army of hundreds of thousands of drones and the ability to produce millions. Drones are changing very quickly, rapidly improving their capabilities - companies are constantly releasing new versions. You can't buy a lot of drones for the so-called stock," explained the Defence Minister, emphasising the need for domestic production.
This maritime drone is equipped with a water cannon engine, modern infrared cameras and a remote control system. The front of the drone is equipped with a combat unit, but Polish experts have not yet announced any plans to install additional weapons, as the Ukrainian army has done by equipping its drones with missile launchers and machine gun turrets.
The development of unmanned systems is carried out by WB GROUP, which already has extensive experience in this field, including the development of FLYEYE reconnaissance drones.

Polish maritime drones are expected to operate effectively in the Baltic Sea, where the depths are shallow. Due to their small size, low thermal and radar emissions, drones are difficult to detect, especially at night. The main threat to them remains airborne detection. To combat this, Ukraine has installed anti-aircraft missiles on maritime drones, which has allowed them to shoot down enemy helicopters.
