Samsung has announced a major software update for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Despite the huge size of the file, the official changelog does not mention any new features or bug fixes.

Here's What We Know

The update for the Galaxy Watch 5 series is already available in South Korea. For the Galaxy Watch 5, it's version R910XXU1CYCD, and for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, it's R920XXU1CYCD. The file size is 460 MB, and as stated in the official log, the update only includes bug fixes and stability improvements.

This update also contains the March 2025 security patch.

Typically, such major updates are accompanied by new features or at least improvements to critical elements. However, Samsung has not announced any significant changes. Perhaps the company has improved the accuracy of physical activity monitoring, which is an important feature for many owners of these smartwatches.

How To Switch It On

In order to install the update, you need to open the Wearable app on your smartphone, go to the watch settings, select "Software Update" and click "Download and Install". The watch will reboot during the installation.

Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro were released in mid-2022 with Wear OS 3.5 and One UI Watch 4.5. In mid-2023, they received an update to Wear OS 4 and One UI Watch 5, and at the end of the year, they received an update to One UI Watch 6 based on Wear OS 5. Both devices are expected to receive an update to Wear OS 6 based on One UI 7 Watch by the end of the year.
