On 29 April 2025, Playground Games' iconic car simulator was fully released on PlayStation 5, marking a historic moment for the series that was previously a Microsoft exclusive. The PS5 version, developed by Panic Button, offers a full experience with cross-platform play, all content and technical improvements, including for PS5 Pro.

Here's What We Know

On the base PS5, the game has two modes: Performance (60 FPS) and Quality (30 FPS).

The PS5 Pro has additional benefits such as denser vegetation, ray tracing, and more stable 4K - even in Performance Mode, the resolution often reaches 2160p.

Prices and versions

  • Standard Edition: $59 (US)
  • Deluxe Edition ($80) includes Car Pass.
  • Premium Edition ($100) adds both extensions and all the additional content

There are no physical copies - the game is available only as a digital copy. Owners of the Xbox or PC versions can play with friends on PS5 thanks to cross-platform compatibility.

Along with the release on PS5, a free Horizon Realms update has been released, which adds:

  • 11 popular locations from previous seasons (such as Retrowave Highway).
  • New permanent track Horizon Stadium Circuit with a leaderboard.
  • Additional cars, tasks, and rewards.

So if you've been waiting for Forza Horizon 5 on Sony's console for a long time, this day has come. Start the engine and go!
