In 2024, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine approved more than 330 new models of domestic unmanned systems for operation, more than four times more than last year.

Here's What We Know

Deputy Defence Minister Valeriy Churkin announced this in an op-ed for Interfax-Ukraine. According to him, drones are now becoming a key element in the weapons systems of the world's leading armies.

In the context of the war with Russia, Ukraine is relying on the development of high-tech weapons as a response to the enemy's numerical superiority.

According to Churkin, more than 95% of the drones used at the front are made in Ukraine. This dynamic demonstrates a real technological breakthrough. However, the deputy minister emphasises that the effectiveness of the fight depends not only on the number of developments, but also on the ability to scale production systematically and quickly.

Churkin stressed that the main thing now is to focus on producing cheap but effective drones capable of inflicting maximum damage on the enemy at minimal cost. This, in his opinion, will determine Ukraine's resilience on the battlefield.
