Former Rockstar CTO believes that one GTA 6 trailer is enough to warm up for the release
Do we need more Grand Theft Auto VI trailers? Former Rockstar North CTO Aubé Vermeij, who worked at the legendary studio from 1995 to 2009, believes that one spectacular cinematic trailer, which we saw back in December 2023, is enough to keep the hype around the game going until its release.
Here's What We Know
Vermeij, who is not shy about sharing his thoughts on GTA 6 and his memories of working on the beloved series, celebrated the 17th anniversary of GTA IV in a tweet, telling the story of how the 2008 game was postponed from 2007 at the last minute. He suggested that "the decision day for VI will be similar" and "fingers crossed for Take-Two's August earnings report", adding that he had no inside information.
As for building anticipation ahead of the launch - whether it's this year as planned or in 2026 - Vermeij believes Rockstar has already done a great job with the release of a single trailer.
"If it were up to me, I wouldn't release any additional trailers," said Vermeij. "There's more than enough hype for VI, and the element of surprise will only make the release even more of an event.
Vermeij added that it would be a "cool move" for Rockstar to simply announce the release date and leave eager players with nothing else until the premiere. After all, GTA 6 will undoubtedly be one of the biggest games of the generation, if not the biggest.
