Samsung surprises: One UI 7 on Galaxy S21 earlier than planned! Samsung is ahead of schedule: One UI 7 is already available for Galaxy S21. Source: Samsung

Samsung has started updating its Galaxy S21 series smartphones to One UI 7 based on Android 15 ahead of schedule. Although the update was expected to start in May, users in South Korea are already receiving the new firmware.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by a well-known insider @tarunvats33 on social media.

Samsung has previously experienced delays in the release of One UI 7, while other Android smartphone manufacturers have long since updated their flagships to Android 15. So the announcement of an "early" start looks somewhat ironic.

The update is already coming to Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphones in South Korea. Usually, it is users in this country who receive the first firmware, and then the global rollout begins, which could begin in the coming weeks.

The One UI 7 firmware weighs more than 3 GB. This is also the last major Android update for the Galaxy S21 series - the smartphones were released in 2021 with Android 11 on board and were promised four major system updates and five years of security patches.

While the exact global release date is still unknown, the early launch in Korea hints that we won't have to wait long.

As a reminder, Samsung announced the Android 15 update schedule for Galaxy smartphones and tablets in May and June.
