Duolingo has announced the launch of 148 new language courses, made possible through the use of generative artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

This approach has greatly accelerated the content creation process, which the company says previously took years. The 7 most popular languages - Spanish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Chinese - are now available in 28 interface languages, opening up learning opportunities to a billion users worldwide.

Duolingo uses a "shared content" system that allows you to create a basic course and adapt it for multiple languages. Generative AI helps create and validate content, ensuring high quality learning. CEO Louis von Ahn said Duolingo is becoming an "AI-centric company" and is gradually replacing the work of contractors with automated processes.
