First extended look at Borderlands 4: epic world, new abilities and the return of your favourite characters
At a special State of Play presentation, Gearbox Software finally demonstrated the extended gameplay of the long-awaited Borderlands 4, revealing new plot details about Kairos and the people's uprising against its ruler, the Chronomancer. The developers took the audience through the world's fascinating locations and showed one of the story missions, which promises to be full of familiar madness.
Here's What We Know
One of the missions sends players to Terminus Ranch at the request of Amara from Borderlands 3. She is looking for Lilith, but the team also wants to stop dangerous experiments at a secret facility. Kairos, the new game world, is divided into four different zones, between which players will be able to move freely. The Digirunner (similar to Destiny's Sparrow) has been introduced to help players move quickly through the world, as well as new features such as sliding, double jumping, and using the hook to grab fixed points. In addition, the world will become more dynamic due to weather changes.
Among the new activities is the capture of Resistance Silos, which can serve as large points of quick movement and offer dungeons with Storage Fragments for collection. In co-op mode, loot will be available for each player separately, and it will be possible to set a separate campaign difficulty. If you get separated from your friends, you can quickly move to them.
Of course, the trailer also features familiar characters such as Zane, Moxie, and Claptrap. Borderlands 4 is scheduled for release on 12 September for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
