Mitsubishi won't let the Mirage die: the budget model will be updated
Despite its age, the compact Mitsubishi Mirage will get another update for some markets in 2026. One of those markets is the Philippines.
Here's What We Know
The current Mirage has been in production since 2011. The model has gone through two facelifts - in 2015 and 2019 - but after 14 years, it has inevitably started to show its age. Nevertheless, Mitsubishi continues to sell the Mirage wherever environmental and safety standards allow.
According to Philippine Land Transportation Office (LTO) documents, Mitsubishi has homologated the new Mirage G4 hatchback and sedan. They will go on sale in 2026. As noted by Top Gear Philippines, the specifications have remained largely the same and the equipment mix has not changed.
Although there are no photos in the documents, the extant dimensions indicate that there are no noticeable exterior changes. Notably, the pre-styled version of the hatchback is still on sale in the Philippines, so we can assume that it will simply be aligned with the current design of the Mirage G4 sedan (aka Attrage in other markets).
Both versions will still be powered by a 1.2-litre atmospheric three-cylinder engine with 79 hp (59 kW). It will be paired with a 5-speed manual or CVT.
In the Philippines, prices for the Mirage start at 711,000 pesos ($12,700) for the hatchback and 769,000 pesos ($13,800) for the sedan. Not a dream car, but for everyday driving, it's a more than reasonable proposition.
In North America, the Mirage is officially off the market in 2024, although remnants are still available at some dealers. In Europe, the model under the name Space Star is also on the verge of extinction. It should be replaced by Colt, which is a Renault Clio with the emblem of the Japanese brand.
