On 1 May, Microsoft announced aMicrosoft significantly raises prices on Xbox consoles, accessories and games and some accessories for them, and said that flagship games will cost customers $80 by the end of 2025.

This decision is primarily due to increased tariffs on imported components, particularly from China. At the same time, as noted by leading financial analyst David Gibson from MST Financial, Microsoft is taking on some of the costs and hopes that the Trump administration will still reduce the duties to at least 40 per cent.

But the analyst is sure that Sony will also come to increase the prices of its consoles.

Here's What We Know

David Gibson predicts that the Japanese company will also decide to raise the prices of the PlayStation 5 Slim and the more powerful PS5 Pro. According to Gibson, the increase could be $100 to $200 or more, meaning that the base PS5 with a disc drive could cost $699.99 and the PS5 Pro could go up to $899.99.

Gibson's colleague Daniel Ahmad of analyst agency Niko Partners is convinced that Nintendo won't be left out either. The company has yet to raise prices on its consoles simply because most of Nintendo's components are made in Vietnam, which has much lower duties than China. However, Nintendo games are already being offered at $80.

Well, gamers should definitely prepare to pay more for games, consoles and other related products, while keeping in mind graphics cards, processors and other components.
