Genki responds to Nintendo's lawsuit: the company is preparing for a new exhibition and will continue to operate
After Nintendo filed a lawsuit against accessory manufacturer Genki over the demonstration of Switch 2 mock-ups, the company commented on the situation for the first time. Genki assures that it takes the claims seriously, cooperates with lawyers, and has no plans to shut down its operations, remaining true to the idea of innovation for gamers.
Here's What We Know
In its official statement, Genki confirmed that it had received a lawsuit from Nintendo and was already working with legal advisors to prepare a response. The company emphasised its independence and stressed that it has always focused on creating unique accessories for the gaming community, of which it is proud. "We are proud of the work we have done and guarantee the quality and originality of our products," Genki said in a statement.
Despite the legal difficulties, Genki is not going to stop production or change its plans. The company continues to prepare for the fulfilment of orders already placed and is preparing to present its new products at PAX East this week. Representatives of the brand thanked the community for their support and promised to share news as soon as possible.
As a reminder, the scandal erupted after Genki showed a 3D model of Switch 2 and its accessories before the console was officially announced at CES 2025. Nintendo accused the company of trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising, as well as misleading consumers about the true compatibility of accessories with the new console. The lawsuit seeks to stop the sale and advertising of the relevant products, as well as to destroy all materials that infringe Nintendo's rights.
Despite the legal proceedings, Genki is determined to continue working and prove its case. Whether the company will be able to defend its independence and reputation will be determined by the development of the case in court.
