Microsoft and The Coalition studio have announced a remaster of the first instalment of the cult shooter Gears of War, which was released in 2006. The game is subtitled Reloaded and will not only be released on PC and Xbox Series, but will also appear on PlayStation (5) for the first time in the history of the series. The updated game will be available on Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming (with Xbox Play Anywhere) from day one.

Xbox users who have the digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition in their library will receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded.

The remaster will feature the following improvements:

  • 4K resolution;
  • 60 FPS in the story campaign;
  • 120 FPS in multiplayer mode;
  • support for HDR, Dolby Vision and 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and 3D sound;
  • VRR technology support;
  • 4K assets and enhanced textures;
  • enhanced visual effects, shadows and reflections;
  • super resolution with improved anti-aliasing;
  • no loading screens during the story campaign;
  • cross-play and cross-progression on all platforms.

When We Can Expect It

Gears of War: Reloaded will be released on the 26th of August. The cost of the edition is $40.
