AI-enabled and resistant to electronic warfare: Russia has started using an unknown type of attack UAV
A drone with artificial intelligence that can overcome electronic warfare equipment has appeared at the front, according to Serhiy Flesh, a Ukrainian specialist and consultant in the field of military radio technology.
Here's What We Know
The new type of attack UAV was first spotted in Sumy in February 2025, and recently in the East. Despite its unremarkable appearance, this is an innovative development: the drone is fully assembled from imported components, has a 34 Ah battery and can deliver a warhead weighing up to 3 kg over a distance of up to 80 km.

The key feature of the drone is its autonomy and high level of computing capabilities. The UAV uses LTE for control, has inertial and satellite navigation, a 14-megapixel camera, a JETSON video module, a laser rangefinder for orientation on an elevation map, and a 100 GB disc with downloaded maps. All of this makes it possible to work without a GPS signal and navigate in space with great accuracy.
Flights in groups of several units - up to six - were recorded, indicating that swarm control is possible. Moreover, the drone can not only evade air defence systems and anti-aircraft drones, but also record their activities.
So far, UAVs have not been widely used, but their presence on the battlefield is growing. There is every indication that the enemy is now actively testing this development in real-world combat.
