The former head of PlayStation Shuhei Yoshida has once again expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming indirect sequel to the cult Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei. He assured that Sucker Punch has once again created a quality game that will surpass the original.

Here's What We Know

Yoshida, who personally played Ghost of Yotei at different stages of development, calls it "even better" than Ghost of Tsushima. He emphasises that the Sucker Punch team has once again done an incredible job, preserving the spirit of the first game but adding new mechanics and atmosphere. He especially notes the close cooperation of the developers with Japanese producers and colleagues from Japan Studio, which helped to dive deeper into the culture and history of Japan.

Ghost of Yotei takes players to the island of Hokkaido in 1603, where the protagonist Atsu is looking for revenge for the death of her family. The game promises an expanded open world, new weapons - odachi, kusarigama, twin katanas - and more control over the plot development and character choices compared to its predecessor.

Ghost of Yotei pre-orders are already open, and the game is scheduled for release on 2 October 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Now, we hope that Yoshida's impressions will coincide with the opinion of players in the future.

As a reminder, Ghost of Yotei instantly topped the PS Store pre-order charts: fans prefer the Deluxe Edition.
