Iconic designer Takeshi Nishiyama, who was behind Street Fighter and Fatal Fury, has teamed up with The Ring magazine and Dimps studio to create a brand new boxing game. The project promises to combine the expertise of legendary fighting game developers with the more than a century-old heritage of the world's most respected boxing publication.

Here's What We Know

The team is already starting development, and the main highlight of the upcoming game will be a completely new roster of fighters, which will allow the authors to move away from licensing restrictions and create something unique. According to the organisers, the project aims to combine the depth and dynamics of classic fighting games with the authentic atmosphere of professional boxing.

Takeshi Nishiyama is a true legend of the genre: he created the first Street Fighter, worked on Fatal Fury, The King of Fighters, Metal Slug, Dragon Ball Xenoverse, and Soul Calibur VI. His studio Dimps is known for its work on the Sonic the Hedgehog, Dragon Ball and Street Fighter IV/V series, as well as other bestselling titles for arcades and home consoles.

Founded in 1922 and known as the "Bible of Boxing", The Ring magazine has recently gone through a new phase of development after being acquired by Saudi philanthropist Turki Al Al Sheikh. The publication actively promotes boxing in the world, organises high-profile tournaments, and is now entering the gaming market to attract a new audience.
