Compact, powerful, stylish: Microsoft officially unveils Surface Laptop 13
Microsoft has officially unveiled the Surface Laptop 13 and announced the launch date.
Here's What We Know
The laptop gets a 13″LCD PixelSense display with Surface Pen support with 60Hz refresh rate, but no HDR support. Like previous models, the Surface Laptop 13 is optimised to work with the Copilot AI assistant.
The Surface Laptop 13's claimed specs are:
- 8-core Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 processor;
- 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage (UFS);
- a capacious battery will provide up to 23 hours of battery life when watching videos and up to 16 hours when surfing the web;
- USB-C × 2, USB-A and 3.5mm audio ports.
The computer has been redesigned with a more rounded shape and will be 15.5mm thick. It is slightly more compact than the last model and can easily fit in a bag.
The Surface Laptop 13 uses an Island-type keyboard combined with a glass trackpad and an integrated fingerprint scanner in the top right corner of the keyboard that will help logging in via Windows Hello, but it doesn't support facial recognition.
The Surface Laptop 13 will come without a proprietary magnetic power adapter included, instead the device can be charged using any USB-C cable that delivers at least 27W.
The new product is available in three colours - Ocean, Violet and Platinum.
The start of sales of the laptop is scheduled for 20 May. The cost of the device is $899 dollars for the basic version and $999 for the model with 512 GB of memory.
