Galaxy A56 owners can launch Google Gemini via the side button
Samsung has announced a new software update for the Galaxy A56 that adds integration with Google Gemini. This feature allows users to launch the AI assistant with a long press of the side button, which was first introduced in the Galaxy S25 series.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy A56, which was announced in March 2025 with One UI 7 (Android 15), did not get access to the side button feature to launch Gemini immediately after launch. However, the new update is based on version A566BXXU3AYDK, which adds Gemini as a standard long-press action. Users can also configure other assistants, such as Bixby, through the Settings, Advanced Features, Side Button menu, allowing them to customise to their own needs.
How To Switch It On
The update is already rolling out in regions such as Europe and is available for download via Settings, Software Update.
Integration with Gemini provides users with new features, such as adding events to their Samsung calendar, saving notes, setting alarms, or finding restaurants on Google Maps. This cloud-based technology will also be available in other Galaxy A series models, such as the A55 and A36, by June 2025.
In terms of performance, the Galaxy A56 is powered by an Exynos 1580 chip, which significantly improves performance and battery life over the Exynos 1480 chip used in the previous A55.
