"I'm just fixing some leaks": Rockstar couldn't get past the massive data breach in 2022 in the new GTA VI trailer and made a reference to that dramatic event
Rockstar Games surprised fans by releasing the second trailer for GTA 6 just a few days after the announcement of the game's postponement to 26 May 2026. Although there is no gameplay in the video, it reveals the storyline and atmosphere of the upcoming hit, and also contains an unexpected hint of the old large-scale information leak of 2022.
Here's What We Know
The new trailer begins with the main character Jason Duvall saying, as he descends from the roof: "I'm just fixing some leaks." This allusion to the massive leak of over 90 videos and screenshots from the game in 2022 did not go unnoticed by fans. Rockstar is still feeling the consequences of that event - the company has admitted that the leak cost it about $5 million and thousands of hours of team work.
The plot of the trailer focuses on two main characters - Jason and Lucia, a pair of criminals from Vice City who find themselves involved in a large-scale criminal conspiracy that covers the entire Leonid state. They are forced to rely on each other to survive in this dangerous world. The video shows vivid shots of the modern-day Vice City with its streets, beaches, clubs and dangerous nooks and crannies.
The second trailer of GTA 6 sets new records: more than 45 million views in 12 hours and a huge buzz on the Internet.
Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
