Samsung is adding a new feature to its smartwatches. Now Bar will be part of the One UI 8 Watch update, which is scheduled for release in the near future.

Here's What We Know

This is a new widget that will allow you to receive important information directly on the watch screen without opening additional applications.

Information about the innovation appeared after analysing the previous version of the system application, in which numerous references to the Now Bar were found. This feature will allow users to choose between displaying only an icon or an icon with text when the screen is active.

Now Bar will work as a widget that provides contextually relevant data directly on the watch screen. For example, it can display suggestions, map information, media controls, Now Brief, usage tips, and even sports scores from Sports on Google.

One of the key features will be gesture support. For example, double-pressing the screen will open the Now Bar to access additional features. If there is no active content on the screen, it will be possible to perform various actions that will allow you to customise the watch to suit your individual needs.

It is not yet known whether additional categories of information will be added before the update is released or in the future.

Samsung will introduce One UI 8 Watch for Galaxy Watch with a new design and Android 16. The last update, One UI 6 Watch, was released with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra in 2024.
