A broken gyroscooter has been turned into a go-kart powered by a solar panel
YouTube blogger Smith Off-Grid shared a fascinating story: he picked up a broken gyroscooter for free from Facebook Marketplace and decided not to send it to a landfill, but to do something useful.
Here's What We Know
As it turned out, the gyroscooter's battery was completely dead. That's when Smith started looking for a way to power the device without a battery. He connected the solar panel and the charge controller to the old terminals, and the gyroscooter worked - but only as long as the sunlight hit the panel.
His first idea was to attach the panel to his backpack with zip ties, but that idea quickly failed. Then the blogger found a more elegant solution: he used a cheap kart seat, a lighter and more powerful solar panel, and PVC pipes for a kind of frame.
The result is a homemade electric go-kart with a roof over its head. For turns, handles are used to tilt the gyroscooter.
