Six years after the release of Outer Wilds, a space adventure game that won the hearts of critics and players alike, Mobius Digital quietly announced that they were working on a new project. They did it in the notes to the latest Outer Wilds patch, which came as a surprise to the entire gaming community.

Here's What We Know

Usually, new games are announced in a pompous way: press releases, teasers on social media, interviews with developers. But Mobius Digital chose a different path: in the list of changes for Outer Wilds patch 16, the team said that they are focused on a new project and no longer plan major updates for Outer Wilds and the Echoes of the Eye expansion.

Despite the fact that the details of the new project are being kept secret, Mobius Digital warned that fans shouldn't expect news anytime soon. "It will take a long time, several years, before we can share any details on this," the studio wrote on Twitter.

Outer Wilds has gained cult status thanks to its unique time-loop solar system exploration mechanics. The player takes the role of a research astronaut who has to solve the mystery of the death of a star that explodes every 22 minutes. Despite the lack of clear objectives, Outer Wilds captivates players with its atmosphere and freedom of exploration.
