During the first official Mass of the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, an Apple Watch was spotted on his wrist. The photo from this event aroused interest in the media and specialised communities, in particular among those who follow the watches of famous people.

Here's What We Know

This is not the first time the Pope has appeared with this device. As noted by columnist Nick Gould, Leo XIV wore an Apple Watch even before he was elected, when he was a cardinal. One of the Reddit users found an archival photo of the future pontiff during the blessing, and the same device is visible on his hand.

There were also reports of another watch that partially peeked out from under his clothes during a public speech. Some sources suggest that it could have been a Wenger Swiss Military model, which quickly disappeared from the market after being mentioned in the media. Or was it a Casio? Or perhaps a Rolex? Discussions about this are ongoing.

It is not specified which Apple Watch model Pope Leo XIV uses.

It should be noted that on 8 May, the Vatican elected a new Pope. It was Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, who chose the name Leo XIV.

Prevost became the first Pope of American descent. He was born in Chicago and speaks several languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese. He also reads Latin and German.

According to Reuters, the style of Leo XIV's pontificate is likely to be different from that of his predecessor, Pope Francis.
