Huawei has presented two new smart door locks - Smart Door Lock 2 Pro and Ultra. They complement the line of home devices and have received updated security features based on biometrics and artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

Both models received the third generation of the 3D face recognition AI system with a ToF camera that analyses more than 307 thousand points. The algorithm adapts to changes in appearance (make-up, beard, weight loss) and is protected against fakes - photos, videos, or masks.

For the first time, Huawei has applied palm vein recognition technology, which works thanks to a high-resolution infrared sensor. It is reliable, regardless of skin colour and age.

The new devices are equipped with a powerful NPU chip and an ultrasonic proximity sensor for faster recognition. They support six unlocking methods, including fingerprint, password, NFC, app, and key. In addition, the locks have a 2K HD peephole with a 161° viewing angle that can recognise visitors, capture photos and videos, store them in the cloud, and allow video calls via HarmonyOS devices.

The 10,000 mAh battery provides up to 5 months of autonomy. There is a backup power supply from AA batteries and an emergency button.

The locks are IPX5 waterproof, have a robust die-cast metal body, a reliable C-class cylinder, and an EAL5+ chip for secure data encryption. The Smart Life app allows you to receive notifications of suspicious activity and control the lock remotely.

On sale in China from 10 May.
