One UI 7 will be the last major update for these Galaxy A series smartphones
Samsung has started rolling out One UI 7 update for Galaxy A-series smartphones. It's currently available for the Galaxy A35, A36, and A55 models, and the update will be rolling out to other devices in the coming weeks. However, for two Galaxy models, this will be the last major update.
Here's What We Know
The Galaxy A14 and A14 5G models will receive the One UI 7 update in the coming months, and this will be their last major software update. After that, they won't receive any more OS updates, but Samsung has promised to continue to provide security updates for at least two more years.
The Galaxy A14 and A14 5G smartphones were introduced in early 2023 with Android 13. Both devices received the promise of two major OS updates - Android 14 and Android 15 - as well as four years of security updates. Therefore, after the release of One UI 7 based on Android 15, these phones will no longer receive new versions of Android, but will remain safe thanks to regular patches.
Should you update your smartphone right now
If you own a Galaxy A14 or A14 5G and are thinking about upgrading to get the latest OS versions, you should consider whether it's worth waiting another year. Many smartphone brands do not introduce significant changes in every major release. One UI 7 already includes significant improvements, and the next One UI 8 update is unlikely to bring any major innovations.
So, if you're not looking for an upgrade for reasons other than software (such as performance or camera improvements), staying with the Galaxy A14 or A14 5G for another year won't be a bad idea.
