The Ministry of Defence has put the Spider ground robotic system into operation
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and authorised the use of the Spider ground robotic system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
According to the defence ministry's press service, the Spider ground robotic system was developed by Ukrainian engineers based on combat experience gained by Ukrainian defenders. The complex has several modifications designed for different tasks, from logistics to engineering. Taking into account the wishes of the military, the developers have found a solution to increase the range of the platforms.
The dimensions of the complex allow two such robots to be transported in the back of a military pickup truck. Each platform weighs just over 50 kg and can carry up to 100 kg of payload. Each drone is equipped with four engines, which ensures high mobility even in difficult combat conditions.
The Spider's advantages include manoeuvrability, ease of operation, resistance to enemy electronic warfare and the ability to perform complex manoeuvres in difficult terrain. It effectively overcomes steep slopes, can move with a roll, and the battery lasts for several hours of continuous operation.
