Ubisoft is preparing a film adaptation of the driving racing game Riders Republic, which will be directed by the Bad Boys directors
Ubisoft has announced the creation of a feature film based on its popular extreme sports game Riders Republic. The film will be directed by the Belgian duo Adil El Arbi and Bilal Falla, known for Bad Boys Forever and Bad Boys: The End.
Here's What We Know
Ubisoft Film Television has teamed up with French studio Gaumont to work on a film project that promises to be a dynamic action film with continuous stunts, humour and spectacular scenes on the snowy slopes of the Alps. The screenplay is written by Noé Debray, the author of the films Quiet Lake and The World Belongs to You.
Riders Republic, released in 2021, combines elements of extreme sports and the open world, offering players to compete on skis, snowboards, bicycles and even in wing suits. The game has attracted more than 10 million players worldwide.
The project is also supported by the production companies 10.80 Films and Los Morros, which work closely with the directorial duo. Ubisoft emphasises that the goal of their film and TV division is to develop game franchises in new media formats, expanding the audience.
In addition, adaptations of Just Dance, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, and Starpets are in development.
The start date and cast are not yet known.
