20 Years of Rage: God of War fans beg Sony to remaster the classic trilogy
Despite Kratos' storied history on PlayStation, the first instalments of the legendary God of War series are undoubtedly in need of an update. After promising rumours, fans were hoping to hear announcements during the franchise's 20th anniversary celebration this May, but Sony quickly cooled their enthusiasm by announcing in advance that there were "no planned announcements" for that particular event. However, this does not stop the fans.
Here's What We Know
Fans are not giving up hope and are once again actively taking to social media, emphasising the lack of big announcements for the anniversary and noting that this particular event would be the "perfect" opportunity for a big announcement.
"A remaster of the original God of War saga would be great," wrote one user, while many others simply expressed the hope that something like this would happen "one day". A comment on ResetEra also highlighted the fact that PS5 still does not allow you to play through the entire series up to the third instalment.
Similar comments have also flooded the latest PlayStation videos on YouTube. "They're literally celebrating 20 years without even making the original games natively available on modern systems... we need remasters," another fan said.
According to the latest updates, it looks like we might still see "something about the Greek God of War" this year, but again, it's believed to be the same "new third-party project", possibly focusing on a younger version of Kratos. So, until further official news, it looks like God of War fans will have to make do with what's currently available on PS5 and PlayStation Plus.
