Even though the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 has been postponed to next year, Rockstar Games' previous titles continue to show amazing sales results. The parent company Take-Two Interactive has released its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024 (ended 31 March 2025) and confirmed that the total sales of Grand Theft Auto 5 exceeded the incredible mark of 215 million copies!

Here's What We Know

That's more than five million more copies sold than in the previous quarter, bringing the total number of Grand Theft Auto games sold to nearly 450 million.

Equally impressive was the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, which sold more than 74 million copies (up four million in the quarter), bringing total sales of the Red Dead Redemption franchise to more than 100 million.

Grand Theft Auto 5, which was released in 2013, has remained relevant for three generations of consoles, and its expanded and improved edition was released on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in 2022 (and recently on PC). Red Dead Redemption 2 also demonstrates steady sales growth, despite the lack of an update for the current generation of consoles.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on 26 May 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

As a reminder, Take-Two explains the delay of GTA 6 as a "worthy investment".
