At the beginning of May Take-Two and Hangar 13 studio revealed the release date of Mafia: The Old Country, opened pre-orders and named the price of the game, which surprised the public.

Here's What We Know

Modern games of this class usually cost $70, and individual projects from Nintendo and Xbox have risen to $80, so the price tag on the new Mafia looks democratic - $50.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick explained in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz that the relatively low price of the game shouldn't cause gamers to worry about its quality. Mafia: The Old Country is a high-end game with a big budget and corresponding ambitions. According to Zelnick, Take-Two not only takes a flexible approach to the pricing of its games, but also aims to make the novelty available to as many potential buyers as possible. That's why the decision was made to sell it for $50.

We think that Mafia: The Old Country is an absolutely amazing game. It looks incredible. We wanted as many people as possible to be able to play it and an adequate price is one way to do that.

Our job is not to turn consumers upside down, shake them and see how much money comes out of their pockets. Our job is to create the best kind of entertainment possible. If we stick to that policy, revenue will jump into our hands.

When We Can Expect It

Mafia: The Old Country will be released on 8 August on PC(Steam), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
