The delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 shook the gaming industry, but the excitement around the game has soared again after the release of its second trailer. Amid the renewed optimism, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive, said the team is committed to creating "the best the world has ever seen in entertainment, not just interactive entertainment."

Here's What We Know

In a new interview with CNBC regarding the postponement of GTA 6, Zelnick emphasised the high stakes:

"The main thing is that Rockstar Games is trying to create the best the world has ever seen in entertainment, not just interactive entertainment. It's an ambitious task, and I think consumers have high expectations for this game. But the delay itself is a reflection of the desire to polish and create the best possible experience for consumers, and our company is known for not having a blind commitment to release dates, but rather striving for the highest quality entertainment."

Of course, there is always the possibility of further postponements. Zelnick warned about this at the beginning of the year, when the open-world game was scheduled for release this autumn. However, he noted that when the company announces a specific date, "we tend to stick to it."

The game is currently scheduled for release on 26 May 2026 for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
