We have spoilers for the sixth episode of The Last of Us season two!

The sixth episode of The Last of Us brings back everyone's favourite Pedro Pascal and shows the happy moments of Ellie and Joel's life has a real surprise that no one expected. The beginning of the episode takes us back in time, where young Joel assures Tommy that their father won't beat him up, because Joel will take the blame. While waiting tensely at the kitchen table, Joel sees their father, a policeman, enter the room. And here the audience is in for a surprise - the role of Joel Sr. is played by none other than the star Tony Dalton!

Here's What We Know

In this scene, Joel tries to take responsibility for Tommy's actions, insisting that he was the one who bought the weed - although in fact he beat up the guys from whom Tommy bought it. Joel warns his father that he will not allow him to hurt Tommy, but he responds by telling him a story about how his own father broke his jaw for stealing a candy bar. Joel asks why he hits his sons if he knows how much it hurts, and his father replies that he would never go that far. "When it's your turn," he tells Joel, "I hope you'll be a little better than me.

It's important to note that this scene was not in the game, and Dalton's appearance as a guest star was specifically created for the HBO series - most likely to better reveal the motivations and behaviour of the adult Joel. Although this appearance looks like a one-off cameo, it is possible that we may see him in other flashbacks.

Tony Dalton previously brilliantly played the absolutely terrifying Lalo Salamanca in the Breaking Bad spin-off series Better Call Saul, a role that earned him several Screen Actors Guild and Saturn Award nominations.
