Italy to provide Ukraine with another SAMP/T air defence system
Italy will provide Ukraine with the third SAMP/T air and missile defence system as part of a new military aid package.

The Eleventh Military Assistance Package also includes 400 M113 tracked vehicles, ammunition and satellite support to monitor the movement of Russian troops in coordination with NATO.
SAMP/T is one of the most effective systems for countering missile threats. Its modern version with Aster 30 Block 1 missiles is capable of intercepting aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 120 km, as well as ballistic missiles with a range of up to 600 km at a distance of up to 30 km and at an altitude of up to 25 km.

This is the third system of this type to be delivered to Ukraine. The first was delivered jointly by France and Italy in 2023. The second - without France's participation - was included in the Italian package in the spring of 2024 and deployed in the autumn. Based on previous experience, the third system is expected to arrive in Ukraine in autumn 2025.
The Italian version of SAMP/T is based on Iveco M320 or ACTL HD8 trucks. The battery includes four self-propelled launchers, a self-propelled radar station and a control centre.
