Get ready for new nightmares, because the creepy Pennywise clown is back, and this time he's going to be right on your TV screens. HBO Max has released the first trailer for Welcome to Derry, the long-awaited prequel series to It, which is scheduled to premiere in autumn.

Here's What We Know

Welcome to Derry takes place 27 years before the events that were shown in the two It films, directed by Andy Muschietti and based on the legendary novel by Stephen King. According to the canon, the deadly entity It feeds on children and then hibernates for 27 years. So, the series will show us the previous wave of Ono's murders that took place before the events of the famous films.

Good news for fans: Bill Skarsgård will be back as Pennywise! The cast of Welcome to Derry also includes Taylor Paige, Giovan Adepo, Chris Chock, James Remar, Steven Ryder, Madeleine Stowe and Rudy Mancuso.

"It's a book we love so much and we felt there were so many more stories to tell," Andy Muschietti and his sister, producing partner Barbara Muschietti, told Entertainment Weekly, "It's so rich with characters and events that we decided to do justice to the book and the fans by returning to that world. In particular, we tell the stories of the interludes, Mike Hanlon's recordings based on his investigations, which include interviews with the elderly in the city. In Welcome to Derry, we touch on the usual themes that were discussed in the film - friendship, loss, the power of a shared faith - but the story also focuses on the use of fear as a weapon, which is one of the things that is relevant to our time."
