AirPods Max with USB-C get an update: how to check the firmware version
Apple has introduced a new firmware update for its AirPods Max headphones with USB-C connector. The new version has the number 7E108 and replaces the previous 7E101 released earlier.
Here's What We Know
Although the official list of changes has not yet been released, the update is likely to focus on overall stability and performance improvements. In the previous update 7E101, Apple added support for Lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio, features that are especially relevant for users of the USB-C model.
AirPods Max with USB-C support 24-bit lossless audio at 48kHz, allowing you to play music with maximum fidelity and detail - exactly as the artist intended in the studio.
How to install the update
To install the update, you need to place the headphones next to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that is connected to Wi-Fi and connect AirPods Max to the charger. The update process can take up to 30 minutes.
You can check the firmware version in the Settings, Bluetooth menu, press the "i" button next to the name of the connected AirPods Max.
Apple has also introduced a 3.5 mm USB-C cable that will allow you to connect the headphones to audio sources with a corresponding connector. The cable costs $39.
The original AirPods Max, introduced in 2020, gained popularity as a premium version of Apple's over-ear headphones.
The updated AirPods Max 2024 now support USB-C charging as part of Apple's move to a single charging standard for all products. Previously, the AirPods Max used the Lightning port for charging.
