The upcoming adventure game Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet should not only expand the studio's portfolio, but also present the "deepest gameplay" that Naughty Dog has ever created.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Sacred Symbols+, Naughty Dog president and director of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Neil Druckmann was asked about his plans for the upcoming game. Although he couldn't give an exact timeframe for when his team would share new details, Druckmann admitted that he was extremely excited about the project.

Druckmann stressed that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will offer the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog's history, and he can't wait to show it to the public. Not surprisingly, its gameplay is already being rumoured to be compared to the player freedom offered by Elden Ring. This hints at a much more open world and freedom of exploration, which is a major departure from Naughty Dog's traditions.

The Naughty Dog president also touched on the philosophy behind the upcoming project. He made it clear that his approach is to ignore outside noise and remain committed to his creative vision. "You just have to ignore it and stand your ground and do what you believe in," he said.

Druckmann also mentioned that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is now his priority, and he has started to drop other commitments to focus fully on the game's development.

Recently, Neil Druckmann also revealed that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be a game about loneliness. He noted that Naughty Dog has worked on several games that often have an AI-controlled companion accompanying the player. With Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be the opposite: the game director wants the player to feel lost in a place they know nothing about and wonder what happened on the planet, who its inhabitants are, and what their history is.

We look forward to it exclusively on PlayStation 5.
