Before the official launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, it was assumed that the chips for the console are supplied by Taiwanese company TSMC, but according to new information, the Japanese company has signed a deal with Samsung.

Bloomberg reported that Nintendo plans to sell more than 20 million units by the end of fiscal year 2025, and to do so, it needs to ramp up the pace of component production.

However, the multi-billion dollar contract with Samsung may go beyond the production of semiconductors.

Here's What We Know

Bloomberg journalists have information that Samsung's management insists that in the production of the improved Switch 2 model, the Korean giant will become the supplier of OLED-displays, as it was in the case of the first Switch.

Back then, both parties were satisfied with the mutually beneficial co-operation, and gamers got a great console with a modern screen.

It is still unclear whether these plans will be realised, but Bloomberg notes that for Samsung cooperation with Nintendo is a reliable source of additional income and an opportunity for further business expansion.

As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on 5 June, but with an IPS display for now.
