Opel has unveiled the spectacular Mokka GSE Rally prototype
The new Opel Mokka GSE Rally is a racing concept that hints at the German brand's return to rallying and anticipates the appearance of the most powerful modification of the electric crossover. The novelty may become a participant of the electric series "ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup powered by GSE", starting in 2026.
Here's What We Know
The Mokka GSE Rally is the first car developed in accordance with the new FIA eRally5 regulations. The car is powered by a 207 kW (281 hp) electric motor with 345 N-m of torque - the same powertrain as the Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica 280, built on a similar eCMP platform from Stellantis. The familiar traction battery with a capacity of 54 kWh (useful - 50.8 kWh) is responsible for power supply. The range has not been disclosed yet - the rally car emphasises performance.
Despite the common architecture with "road" models, the rally Opel Mokka received specific equipment: multi-disc differential lock, racing transmission, sports seats with six-point belts, safety cage, fire extinguishing system and underbody protection. There are no electronic aides - safety and control are provided by mechanical means.
Some visual elements of the prototype, such as bright yellow calipers and wheel discs, aggressive dodger and air intake on the roof, are attributes of the racing modification, but they may well be transferred to the civilian version of the Mokka GSE. There is a chance for this, given Opel's desire to emphasise the sporty image of the GSE (Grand Sport Electric) range.
The Opel Mokka GSE Rally prototype will be presented publicly on 23-24 May in the Netherlands, during the next round of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup. The production version of the Mokka GSE is likely to be announced later - and, if it retains the prototype's specifications, will be the most powerful Opel Mokka yet.
