NetEase has announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2025: the company's gaming business grew by 12.1% and brought in RMB 24 billion ($3.3 billion). The main growth drivers are new hits and popular franchises that attract millions of players around the world.

Here's What We Know

In the first quarter of 2025, NetEase recorded significant growth: the company's total revenue increased by 7.4% year-on-year to 28.8 billion yuan ($4 billion), and profit increased by 8.6% to 18.5 billion yuan ($2.5 billion).

NetEase is particularly proud of the results of its gaming business. Online gaming revenue accounted for almost 97.5% of total revenue, up 2.3% year-on-year. This indicates the growing popularity of the company's gaming products.

"We started 2025 with strong momentum, driven by continued innovation and new projects that expand our presence across genres and resonate with players around the world," said NetEase CEO William Dean.

He also emphasised that the company's long-term franchises continue to thrive thanks to quality updates and continuous improvement of the gaming experience. "We are committed to breaking new ground in gaming by staying true to innovation and long-term performance, working with the best talent and strategic partners," Dean added.
