The third season of The Last of Us will be dedicated to Abby, played by Caitlin Deaver. Actress Catherine O'Gara, who played the role of therapist Gail, confirmed that her character will not appear in the next season, as the plot will revolve around Abby.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with Variety on the eve of The Last of Us season two finale, Catherine O'Gara admitted that her character, therapist Gail, will not appear in the third season. "Craig said it's definitely not next season," the actress said, "It's going to be Abby's story. I may come back later, but right now the story is focused on Abby and her connection to Joel and Ellie."

For fans of the original The Last of Us: Part II will not be surprised: in the second part, players play as both Ellie and Abby.

The second season of the HBO series focuses on Ellie (Bela Ramsey) and her relationship with Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Dina (Isabela Merced). Therefore, it is logical that the third season will shift the focus to Abby.

Craig Mazin also hinted that the third season might be longer than the second: "The storyline gives us more options, but we're definitely not going to wrap up the whole story in season three. Hopefully, we will earn a fourth season to complete the story."
