Valve has taken another important step to popularise its own SteamOS operating system and released a new firmware.

Here's What We Know

Update 3.7.8, in addition to improving Steam Deck, made SteamOS officially available on portable consoles from other manufacturers. For example, it can now be installed on Lenovo Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally.

To do this, you need to download the image and follow the instructions published on Valve's website.

Also, the American company has improved SteamOS operation on devices with AMD processors, updated the Arch Linux system, Linux kernel, Mesa graphics subsystem and Plasma interface.

Another important innovation was the addition to the settings of the option to limit the maximum battery charge Steam Deck to prevent battery degradation. The same option, as a reminder, will also appear on Nintendo Switch 2.

The full list of changes in patch 3.7.8 can be found on the Steam page.
