Insider: PS Vita "successor" is being developed under the codename Project Jupiter and will get a custom chip from AMD
In recent months, several reputable sources have reported that Sony is working on a new handheld gaming console that is close in concept to the iconic PS Vita and, unlike the PlayStation Portal, will be able to run games natively rather than only using cloud technology.
Now there is new information about this device with specific details.
Here's What We Know
Authoritative Korean insider Jukanlosreve reported that the console has the working name Project Jupiter and is still in the discussion stage, and its announcement will not be heard until 2028.
Jukanlosreve knows that the device will get a custom chip from AMD, created using Samsung's 2nm process technology. The processor will provide high energy efficiency and excellent performance, but despite this, the console will not be able to run original PS5 games without additional preparation. Most likely, Sony will have to release separate versions of them, specially adapted for this gadget.
