After a disastrous start and incredible work to restore Cyberpunk 2077's reputation, it's hard to believe that Polish CD Projekt RED is working on two large-scale projects at once: a sequel to Cyberpunk codenamed Project Orion and The Witcher 4.

Here's What We Know

Although the difficulties in the development of Orion have been covered several times in the media, art director Pawel Mielniczuk, who is currently working on Project Hadar, said that the transition from the cyberpunk atmosphere to the medieval times of The Witcher was a serious challenge for the team. According to him, after many years of immersion in the cyberpunk aesthetic, the change of style required significant adaptation.

Sebastian Kalemba, director of The Witcher 4, also noted that returning to the franchise after a long stay in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 required time to "reconfigure" thinking, genre approaches and character work. At the same time, the team emphasises that fans love this universe and they have interesting ideas on how to develop it.

It is known that The Witcher 4 focuses on the flexibility of choice for the player, and Project Orion will introduce a new city, which Cyberpunk author Mike Pondsmith described as "a perverted Chicago". Knight City will also return, but it is not yet known whether it will be available for exploration.
