Texas teenagers may be left without access to social networks - the state government has developed a corresponding bill.

Here's What We Know

Texas may become the first state in the United States, where the use of social networks by persons under 18 years of age will be prohibited.

The Senate Committee approved the bill and plans to put it to a vote in the near future. If the law is passed by 2 June, the governor will immediately sign it and put it into effect.

The bill calls for mandatory age verification for users who have social media accounts and those who will open them in the future. Those under the age of 18 will not be able to use the platforms and create accounts there, and those that are created will be blocked.

Parents will have the opportunity to send a request to block their child's account, and the social network must perform this action within 10 days, otherwise they will face a solid fine.

Recall, in November, a similar law was adopted in Australia, but there the age limit is up to 16 years.
